SIP Grants

Available Funding

Thanks to the generosity of the Tedrow Little Tyler family, we are able to provide grants of at least $200 to each student completing a SIP in Studio Art or Art History. Funding amounts vary from year to year, and are generally announced in the fall.

Studio Art

Students completing SIPs in Studio Art may use their Tedrow Little Tyler (TLT) grants for consumable materials such as paint, clay, or paper. The grant funds may only be used while enrolled in Advanced Studio and during the SIP term (usually fall and winter of senior year).

Studio Art majors who are not doing a Studio Art SIP are eligible for up to half the SIP grant allotment while enrolled in Advanced Studio. (So, for example, if each student doing a Studio Art SIP receives $200, majors who are not SIP-ing would receive $100 for materials to be used during Advanced Studio.)

Art History

Students completing SIPs in Art History may use their TLT grants for research and/or travel expenses related to their SIPs. For example, TLT grants may be used for travel to view primary sources and/or original artworks in person, or to purchase books unavailable through other sources.

How It Works

Funds are disbursed via reimbursement. Students are asked to make their own purchases, and then submit itemized receipts to the Art Department Office Coordinator, Marissa Klee-Peregon. Original receipts can be brought to Marissa in their office, LFA 120; digital receipts can be forwarded via email.

Please note the Business Office has a strict 30-day policy for reimbursement of receipts. Receipts MUST be turned in prior to the 30 days after purchase or we will be unable to reimburse your receipts.

For larger expenses, other methods of disbursement may be arranged. Please see Marissa Klee-Peregon to discuss other possibilities.

About the Fund

The Tedrow Little Tyler Scholarship was established by Mary Little Tyler in honor of her parents who attended Kalamazoo College. Hundreds of art students have been supported by the Tedrow Little Tyler Scholarship since its inception in 1988.
